Friday marks the beginning of registration for Toorcon 8. This weekend, computer security experts will decend upon the Convention Center to partake in the Toorcon-y goodness. This years line up looks good, with some good talks from some of our very own 2600-San Diegans.
Beer, parties, and good talks. Fun is abound.

I Fought the Law Federal Court Rules NSA Wiretapping Unconstitutional

A federal judge ruled that the domestic spying program that was secretly inacted after Sept. 11, has been ruled Unconstitutional and ordered it to stop immediately.

Conferences & Events Toorcon 8 -- 29 Sep - 01 Oct 2006 -- San Diego Convention Center

Toorcon, San Diego's own Hacker Convention, is the 29th of September through the 1st of October. Like last year, it will be held at the San Diego Convention Center. Tickets are $70 till September 1st, $80 on September 1st through September 15th, and $120 at the door.) More info can be found at http://www.toorcon.org/

According to C|Net's Declan McCullagh, the House of Representatives has passed a ban on accessibility of "Social Networking Sites" and "Chat Rooms" via public systems at Libraries and other public spaces. This would, undoubtfully include this website, which offers both "Chat Rooms" (though, we prefer to call them forums for 1st admendment protected speech) and the ability to post your own blog and comments to stories posted by others. Of course, with the broad definition of these sites within the ban, they might have an easier job just banning the entire web.
