From the Internet Full Body Teleportation
Posted by cryptodecker on Saturday, May 13, 2006 (23:38:02) (276 reads)

Teleportation

So a patent was issued on Apr. 6, 2006 for full body teleportation system. Is this what everybody has been waiting for? Will we finally be able to make day trips to Europe?
Hardly.
The patent is based on the fact that, to recieve a patent you just have to prove the valadity of the abstract, not have a working product, or can even build a working product. I am unsure if this prank is to show the flaws in our patent system, or if he is just betting on making some money before 15 (?) years if someone does invent a teleportation system.
Either way, if you still believe the above, I got some land in PB to sell ya.

I love Brainiac. For those of you who have the benifit of having the G4 Channel, would do well to catch this series. It is a british Mr. Wizard for the drinking public.
But this in peticular offers something for everyone. For most of us, it has british babes with bombs. And for those ladies out there, (well the ladies that would be comming to this site anyways) it has bombs. (Unless you wish to partake in the ladies also, we are not here to judge)

Brainiac

Trip the life fantastic.

SubVirt: Implementing Malware with Virtual Machines
Posted by ltlw0lf on Saturday, April 08, 2006 (06:39:11) (260 reads)

There is an interesting white-paper online now about implementing malware using Virtual Machines. The software discusses having malware install a VMBR (Virtual-Machine Based Rootkit) using XP's LastChanceShutdownNotification event to rewrite the MBR to run a VMM instead of the OS, then link to the OS from within the VMM. They also discuss a similar attack for Linux.

Hacker Musings Selling Advertisements With Vulnerability Reports
Posted by ltlw0lf on Sunday, January 22, 2006 (11:39:11) (302 reads)

Now I think I've seen it all. According to an article on InternetWeek, HexView is publishing a Vulnerability Report on a Microsoft Excel vulnerability along with two 400-character ads sold to the highest bidder. Vulnerability reporting is apparently so corporate now that people actually think they will make money off of selling ad space within vulerability reports.

Stupid Telco Verizon Believes We Should Pay Them to Do Their Jobs
Posted by ltlw0lf on Saturday, January 07, 2006 (07:07:09) (306 reads)

If you needed proof that the phone companies are struggling with a failing business model (like the Music Industry,) Verizon's CEO Ivan Seidenberg believes that Google and Microsoft should pay Verizon for use of their networks (I thought we already were paying Verizon and the other phone companies for "access" to the internet, whether it be dial-up or dedicated connections.) This, of course, is similar to AT&T's comments last year along the same lines. Is there any company out there with a dying business model that realizes it is their fault, and not others, for their demise. Plenty of companies go out of business, and it is usually caused by lack of money...
